On 14 December 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Baghaichari and Dighinala following the death of a settler named Mohamed Sattar. An indigenous woman named Chikon Mila Chakma was killed in Dighinala and at least 10 indigenous people were injured. Mr. Ronik Chakma was one of the indigenous victims.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous students in Rangamati

On 10 Nov. 1988, Bangladesh army arrested indigenous students studying at Rangamati College and Chittagong University on false charges of being members of Shanti Bahini.

The indigenous students were subjected to interrogation and torture by the members of DGFI (Directorate General of Forces Intelligence), NSI (National Security Intelligence) and SB (Special Branch). The victims are:

  1. Mr. Hemal Dewan, student of Rangamati College.
  2. Mr. Jnana Prakash Khisa, student of Chittagong University.
  3. Mr. Cizi Moni Chakma, student of Chittagong University.
  4. Mr. Milan Chakma, student of Rangamati College.
  5. Pratim Roy, student of Rangamati College.
  6. Mr. Shukheshwar Chakma, as above.
  7. Mr. Chayan Chakma, as above.
