Ponemala Tripura killed by Bengali settlers
On the night between 3-4 September 2009 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed Ponemala Tripura (50) wife of Bhibishan Tripura at Sindukchari under Mahalchari. The villagers recovered her dead body from their farm in the morning of 4 September 2009. She had a land dispute with the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army rape indigenous woman in Naniachar

On 12 Nov. 1988, Bangladesh army from Naniachar Camp led by Major Sharif raided indigenous Buddhist village Hatimara of Burighat Mouza in Naniachar, Rangamati district.

During the raid, Bangladesh army arrested indigenous persons and raped an indigenous woman. The arrested persons were taken to Naniachar Camp where they were subjected to interrogation, torture and electrocution. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Harish Chandra Chakma (35), son of Mr. Nila Charan Chakma of North Hatimara, Burighat Mouza, Naniachar.
  2. Mr. Bucchya Chakma (21), son of Mr. Sabha Kishta Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Governor Chakma (20), son of Mr. Bipin Bihari Chakma, address as above.
  4. Mrs. Kalabi Chakma (38), wife of Mr. Bipin Bihari Chakma, address as above. She was raped by Major Sharif.
