On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Rangamati
On 21 Dec 1988, Bangladesh government arrested indigenous persons by involving them with fabricated charges for the death of Shantimoy Dewan in Rangamati. The arrested innocent persons are being subjected to inhuman physical torture and detained without trial. The victims are:
