On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. The settlers destroyed many indigenous houses and Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. 2 Buddhist monks survey their gutted temple and Buddha image.
Bangladesh army tortures indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala
On 11 Jan. 1989, Bangladesh army of 6 EBR from the Babuchara Army Camp led by Capt. Azad carried out military operations against the indigenous Buddhist inhabitants of Nunchari, Baghaichari and Babuchara in Dighinala, Khagrachari district. During the operations Bangladesh army tortured and severely beat the following indigenous Buddhist men:
Master Janjalya Chakma, 15 yrs, son of Mr. Ninay Kumar Chakma of Nunchari, Dighinala. He was kicked and severely beaten.
