On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.
Dr. Shusovon Dewan is an indigenous physician in Rangamati. Muslim settlers mercilessly beat him when they found him in the street.
Bangladesh army tortures indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Panchari
On 6 Feb. 1989 at night, Bangladesh army from Logang Bazar Army Camp encircled indigenous Buddhist villages Kamini Ranjan Karbari Para and Lamba Karbari Para in Panchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army arrested indigenous Buddhist inhabitants and inhumanly tortured them. Bangladesh army detained some of the victims at 203 Brigade HQ, Khagrachari.
The victims are:
Mr. Motilal Chakma, 34 yrs, a member of Union Parishad, son of late Samesh Chandra Chakma, of Lamba Karbari Para, Panchari.
Mr. Anupam Chakma, 37 yrs, an Ex-Chairman of Union Parishad, Logang, son of late Rebati Chakma, of Kamini Ranjan Karbari Para, Panchari.
