Bangladesh army tortures indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Laxmichari
On 20 Feb. 1989, Bangladesh army of 2 EBR from Laxmichari Army Camp led by Major Salim and Subedar Bashir launched a military campaign against the indigenous Buddhist inhabitants of Dewan Para in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district.
During the raid Bangladesh army tortured the innocent inhabitants with inhuman beating, water boarding and throwing the victims into pits without food and water. They were victimised for their support for 5 (five) point demands of the Jana Samhati Samiti. The victims are:
