On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed at least 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. 2 of them were Bijay Chakma and Samiran Chakma, the sons of Saral Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bangladesh army terrorizes indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 24 Feb. 1989, Bangladesh army of 31 EBR from Ghagra Zone led by Lt. Col. Anwar Hossain carried out a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist inhabitants of Bakchari in Naniachar, in Rangamati district.

During the operation, Bangladesh army personnel resorted to robbing and destruction of house hold properties of the indigenous Buddhist inhabitants. The victims are:

1. Mr. Sadhan Chandra Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Mr. Sesh Chandra Chakma, of Bakchari, Naniachar. BD Army robbed 60 green cocoanuts from him.
2. Mr. Sadhan Mohan Chakma, 38 yrs, son of Mr. Joyee Chandra Chakma, address as above. BD Army robbed 15 green cocoanuts from him.
3. Mr. Nayan Kumar Chakma, 40 yrs, son of Mr. Swarga Moni Chakma, address as above. BD Army robbed 60 green cocoanuts from him.
4. Mr. Benga Moni Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Mr. Laghunath Karbari, address as above. BD Army robbed 3 fowls from him.
5. Mr. Nila Chandra Chakma, 48 yrs, son of Mr. Dakshin Chandra Chakma, address as above. BD Army robbed 4 fowls from him.
6. Mr. Raj Chandra Chakma, 40 yrs, son of Mr. Zura Dhan Chakma, address as above. BD Army robbed 2 fowls from him.
7. Mr. Shanti Kumar Karbari, 34 yrs, son of Mr. Ranju Nath Karbari, address as above.
8. Mr. Mriga Ranjan Chakma, 37 yrs, son of Mr. Kamini Kumar Chakma, address as above. BD Army demolished his house.
9. Mr. Kandar Singh Chakma, 24 yrs, son of Mr. Binandu Kumar Chakma of Karalyachari, Naniachar. BD Army beat and kicked him.
10. Mr. Nagajya Chakma, 21 yrs, son of Mr. Ashok Kumar Chakma, address as above. Beaten as above.
11. Mr. Jayanta Chakma, 18 yrs, son of Mr. Nakya Dhan Chakma, address as above. Beaten as above.
12. Mr. Biraj Mohan Chakma, 44 yrs, son of Mr. Ompru Chakma of Jogonatali, Naniachar. BD Army robbed his house hold properties.
