On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army tortures indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 7 Sept. 1989, Bangladesh army of 9 Engineers Corps, from the Naniachar Army Camp led by Major Aziz and Capt. Salauddin raided the indigenous Buddhist village Haringhat Chara in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During a raid Bangladesh army inhumanly tortured following indigenous Chakma Buddhists:

  1. Mr. Nanda Kumar Chakma, 30 yrs, son of Mr. Latachan Chakma, of Haringhat Chara, Naniachar.
  2. Mr. Ratna Kumar Chakma, 45 yrs, son of Mr. Latachan Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Paranya Chakma, 12 yrs, son of Mr. Himadri Chakma, address as above.
  4. Mr. Natun Bihari Chakma, 16 yrs, son of Mr. Kalanjay Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mrs. Latabi Chakma, 65 yrs, wife of Mr. Kajya Chakma, address as above.
