On 14 December 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Baghaichari and Dighinala following the death of a settler named Mohamed Sattar. An indigenous woman named Chikon Mila Chakma was killed in Dighinala and at least 10 indigenous people were injured. Dead body of Ms. Chikon Mila Chakma lies in Khagrachari hospital morgue.
Bangladesh army tortures indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Laxmichari
On 10 Sept. 1989, Bangladesh army of 2 EBR, from the Bangladesh army camp at Dulyatali in Laxmichari led by Subedar Major Bashir and Subedar Sulaiman carried out a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist inhabitants of Hazachari in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. During the
operation, Bangladesh army beat and tortured indigenous Buddhist inhabitants. The victims are:
Mr. Dhan Mohan Chakma, 45 yrs, son of Mr. Bujya Chakma, of Hazachari, No. 291 Dulyatali Mouza, Laxmichari. BD Army robbed Taka 1000.00 from him.
Miss Surya Bani Chakma, 18 yrs, daughter of Mr. Dhan Kumar Chakma, address as above. BD Army molested her at gun point.
Miss Dukh Pati Chakma, 8 yrs, daughter of Mr. Dhan Kumar Chakma, address as above. She was beaten by the army personnel.
Mr. Purna Mohan Chakma, 57 yrs, son of Mr. Hacchya Chakma, address as above. BD Army beat him and robbed a radio receiver from him.
