Chakma mother and victim of Teknaf
On 30 May 2012 Bangladesh police and Muslim settlers raided indigenous Buddhist villages of Howaikyong area under Teknaf in Cox’s Bazaar. In this attack 12 Chakma villagers were severely wounded. 7 Chakma villagers including 4 minors were arrested without warrant. One pregnant woman prematurely gave birth to a baby due to torture and several women were sexually harassed.

Bangladesh army sets indigenous Buddhist houses on fire in Matiranga

On 3 Oct. 1989, a contingent of 150 Bangladesh army personnel from Khagrachari, Bizitola and Toiktang camps raided the indigenous Buddhist village Kamal Charan Karbari Para in Matiranga, Khagrachari district. During the raid, Bangladesh army burnt indigenous Buddhist village to ashes and robbed live stocks.

The victims whose houses were set on fire are:

  1. Mr. Ugutya Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Mr. Chandra Ketu Chakma, of Kamal Charan Karbari Para of Matiranga. Loss of properties worth Taka 3500.00.
  2. Mr. Bimal Chandra Chakma, 45 yrs, son of Mr. Mereiya Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 3000.00.
  3. Mr. Kamal Charan Karbari, 54 yrs, son of Mr. Bhagirath Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2800.00.
  4. Mr. Kali Mohan Chakma, 40 yrs, son of Mr. Rangachan Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2500.00.
  5. Mr. Jayratan Chakma, 29 yrs, son of Mr. Chandra Ketu Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2500.00.
  6. Mr. Nuadhan Chakma, 42 yrs, son of Mr. Mereiya Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 1900.00.
  7. Mr. Kamala Kanta Chakma, 60 yrs, son of Mr. Undujya Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2300.00.
  8. Mr. Parikshit Chakma, 49 yrs, son of Mr. Abhimanya Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 1000.00.
  9. Mr. Bira Sangha Mahajan, 50 yrs, son of Mr. Bangachan Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 3100.00.
  10. Mr. Pashu Ranjan Chakma, 38 yrs, son of Mr. Byangamoni Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2500.00.
  11. Mr. Kamal Chan Chakma, 30 yrs, son of Mr. Byangamoni Chakma, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2500.00.
  12. Mr. Gopal Mohan Chakma, 38 yrs, address as above. Loss of property worth Taka 2500.00.
  13. Mr. Biralal Chakma, 28 yrs, son of Mr. Bira Sangha Mahajan, address as above.
  14. Mr. Hengeda Chakma, 48 yrs, son of Mr. Punya Chandra Chakma, address as above.
