On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati.
When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers.
76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.
Bangladesh army robs indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Laxmichari
On 7 Oct. 1989, Bangladesh army from the army camp at Manikchari led by Major Salim raided the indigenous Buddhist village Dane Banarkata in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. During the raid Bangladesh army robbed the indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:
Mr. Ajodhyamoni Chakma, 45 yrs, son of Mr. Manek Chandra Chakma, of Bame Banarkata, Laxmichari. All the household properties including Taka 2500.00 were robbed.
Mr. Nad Dhan Chakma, 24 yrs, son of Mr. Jyotish Chandra Chakma, of Dane Banarkata, Laxmichari. Taka 2000.00 was robbed from him.
Mr. Uttar Chakma, 45 yrs, son of Mr. Tunya Chakma, address as above. A bullock worth Taka 4000.00 was forcibly slaughtered free of charge.
Mr. Lasi Chakma, 26 yrs, son of late Kyara Chakma, address as above. Taka 1000.00 was robbed from him.
Mr. Kalabiza Chakma, 60 yrs, son of Mr. Bedakya Chakma, address as above. Taka 2500.00 was robbed from him.
