When whole country was celebrating the victory day of the country on 16 Dec 2014, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous people in Bagachari area of Naniarchar to evict them from their traditional land. 50 indigenous houses, 7 shops and 1 Buddhist temple were destroyed.

Bangladesh army attacks indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Khagrachari
On 25 Nov. 1989, Muslim settlers in league with Bangladesh army attacked indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Khagrachari. Following indigenous people were injured in the attack:
Mrs. Kalindi Chakma, 40 yrs, of Betchari, Khagrachari. She suffered a serious head injury.
Mr. Hriday Ranjan Chakma, 50 yrs, of Kamalchari, Khagrachari.
Mr. Shankar Bikash Chakma, 20 yrs, a student of Khagrachari College, son of a School teacher Mr. Biju Kumar Chakma, of Perachara, Khagrachari. Bangladesh army severely tortured him.

Mr. Samayanta Chakma, 12 yrs, son of Mr. Jhimit Lal Chakma, address as above. Bangladesh army severely tortured him.
