On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed at least 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. 2 of them were Bijay Chakma and Samiran Chakma, the sons of Saral Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.
Bangladesh army beat to death an indigenous Buddhist man in Laxmichari
On 1 May 1990, Capt. Ali Haider and Subedar Bashir of 2nd East Bengal Regiment of Bangladesh Army from Dulyatali Army Camp and Major Salim of the 2nd EBR of the Bangladesh Army from Laxmichari Army Camp arrested an innocent indigenous person Mr. Padma Muni Chakma (40) of the Memberpara village in Laxmichari, Khagrachari District.
Bangladesh army took him to the army camp. Bangladesh army severely tortured Mr. Padma Muni Chakma and he died from his injuries on 6 May 1990 at Laxmichari Army Camp.
