On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

Bangladesh army robs and sets alight indigenous Buddhist villages in Laxmichari

0n 21-22 August 1990, Bangladesh Army of the 2nd East Bengal Regiment from the Dulyatali Army Camp led by Capt. Zia Hossain launched attacks against the inhabitants of Naubhanga and Durchari villages in Laxmichari, Khagrachari District.

Bangladesh army robbed indigenous Chakma Buddhists of all valuable things and then set their houses alight. The affected persons were:

  1. Mr. Sashi Kumar Chakma (35), son of Mr. Sugi Karbari (village Head) of Naubhanga village
  2. Mr. Karmachan Chakma (65), son of Mr. Bizuram Chakma of Naubhanga village
  3. Mr. Ramanisen Chakma (55), son of late Pagala Chakma of Durchari village and so on
