On 25 December 1986 at 6:00 a.m Bangladeshi army personnel from the Dighinala cantonment rounded up Mr. Baribindu Chakma (38) son of Mr. Jatindra Lal Chakma of Sadhok Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army tied his hands and then severely beat him. Bangladesh army men laid him on the ground and kicked him like a football. They hammered his fingers. He was released after 8 and 1/2 hours of torture. He took refuge in Tripura state of India.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Longadu

On 2 January 1991, Bangladesh army from Merung Zone led by Lt. Col. Zillur Rahaman raided 3 indigenous Buddhist vil1ages in Longadu, Rangamati district. During the military operation Bangladesh army arrested 5 indigenous Buddhist people and severely tortured them. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Laksmi Moni Chakma (28), son of Mr. Tin Audu Chakma of Ulta Chari, Longadu.
  2. Mr. Jagadish Chandra Chakma (28), son of Mr. Ananda Mohan Chakma of Ulta Chari, Longadu.
  3. Mr. Arun Bikash Chakma (34), son of Mr. Kali Kumar Chakma of Chongra Chari, Merung.
  4. Mr. Purna Bikash'Chakma (25), son of Mr. Bira Mohan Chakma of Chongra Chari, Merung.
  5. Mr. Suhel Chakma(30), son of Mr. Biranga Chakma of Chongra Chari, Merung.
