On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.
Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Longadu
On 14 January 1991, a group of 70 Bangladesh army men of 4th EBR from Korollya Chari Camp led by Commander Maj. Ruhul Amin launched a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist villagers of Goda Bannya Chara Mono Chag of Atarak Chara Mouza in Longadu, Rangamati district.
During the operation, Bangladesh army inhumanly tortured inidgenous Buddhist villagers and set fire on many indigenous Buddhist houses. The victims are:
