On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Naniachar
On 27 March 1991, Bangladesh army of 8th Engineering Corps. from Naniachar Army Camp led by C.O. Ataur and Maj. Aziz detained and tortured many inidgenous people at zone head quarter in Naniachar, Rangamati district. The victims are:
