On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.
Dr. Shusovon Dewan is an indigenous physician in Rangamati. Muslim settlers mercilessly beat him when they found him in the street.
Bangladesh army torture 4 indigenous people in Rangamati
On 4 April 1991, Bangladesh army of 21 EBR from Gargajyachari army camp led by Capt. Habib tortured 4 indigenous people at Kaindya Dozori Adam in Rangamati. Bangladesh army accused them of planting crop on public land
Indigenous people were planting crop on the shore of Kaptai Lake that emerged after retreat of the lake's water and they had the permission to do so from the camp's commander. The victims are:

On 3 April 1991, Banladesh army of 21 EBR arrested 2 indigenous persons at a check post at Kaindya in Rangamati sub-district. They were returning home from Rangamati Reserve Bazar. The victims are:
