On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Rangamati

On 21 April 1991, Bangladesh army of 21 EBR from Pankho Para army camp led by Subedar Sarwar launched a military operation against the indigenous people of Dattung Para in Rangamati sub-district. During the operation, Bangladesh army detained and tortured 8 indigenous persons. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Sandumani Chakma (60), son of Mr. Brighuram Chakma.
  2. Mr. Jayanta Kumar Chakma (22), son of Mr. Bizakya Chakma.
  3. Mr. Laxi Bilash Chakma (15), son of Mr. Madan Mohan Chakma.
  4. Mr. Chandra Hangsa Chakma (15).
  5. Mr. Hedi Chakma (25), son of Mr. Harpakya Chakma.
  6. Mr. Shanikya Chakma (26).
  7. Mr. Hiranmoy Chakma (12), son of Mr. Bana Bilash Chakma.
  8. Mrs. Hirata Devi Chakma (30), wife of Mr. Bana Bilash Chakma.
