On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.
Bangladesh army murder an indigenous girl in Naniachar
On 9 Sept. 1991, Bangladesh army from Burighat army camp led by Leut. Col. Wahab and Major Mahboobur Rahman launched a
military operation against the indigenous people at Kathaltali in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army indiscriminately opened fire at the villagers. As a result an indigenous girl was killed. The victim is:
Miss Shabika Chakma (7), daughter or Mr. Jaykumar Chakma of Kathaltali, Naniachar.
To conceal the killing, Bangladesh army claimed that the girl was caught in a cross fire between the Army and the
Shanti Bahini.
