On 26 August 2003; Bangladesh army in league with Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people in Mahalchari. Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers set fire on more than 370 indigenous Buddhist houses. An indigenous Chakma man and an indigenous Chakma infant (8 months) were killed. More than 1000 indigenous Buddhist people were rendered homeless. Lemucharipara Buddhist Temple and Babupara Buddhist Temple were burnt down. Lord Buddha's images were demolished. Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers raped 10 indigenous Chakma women.

Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Buddhist people in Mahalchari

On 21 October 1991, more than 220 Bangladeh army personnel led by Brig. Sharif Aziz launched a massive military offensive against the Shanti Bahini in Mahalchari, Khagrachari district. While returning to their base, Shanti Bahini guerillas ambushed Bangladesh army.

In retaliation to Shanti Bahini attack, from 24 to 31 October 1991, Bangladesh army launched a week long reprisal attack against the non-combatant indigenous people of Mahalchari.

Bangladesh army raped an indigenous Buddhist woman. Bangladesh army attempted rape another indigenous Buddhist woman. Bangladesh army severely beat and humiliated 2 other indigenous women. Bangladesh army set 6 indigenous Buddhist houses on fire. Bangladesh army robbed numerous indigenous Buddhist houses, crops and livestock. Bangladesh army desecrated and damaged a Buddhist temple at Ultachari. Bangladesh army detained and tortured 9 indigenous Chakma Buddhists.

Muslim settlers acted in conjunction with Bangladesh army in the attack on indigenous Buddhist people.
