On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.
Bangladesh army forcibly relocate indigenous people to concentration camps in Barkal
On 7 January 1993, Bangladesh army troops of the 37th EBR, headed by Major Shafiq of Chalkapara army camp and captain Niyamal of Tejaripara army camp, rounded up Rattobapchara village of Dumdumya Union in Barkal, Rangamati district.
Bangladesh army raided the village because the villagers had refused to move to a cluster village. They were beaten, their houses burnt and they were forcibly taken to Chalkapara cluster village.
