On 3 August 2004, Bangladesh army backed Bengali Muslim settlers killed 2 members of an indigenous Buddhist family in Dhandachara village of Bhushanchara in Barkal. At night at around 11 pm the Muslim settlers attacked Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma (33) and his family members with swords and spears. Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma died on the spot and his wife Ms. Subarna Chakma (28) and 11 months old son Kampan Chakma were seriously injured. Next day on 4 August Ms. Subarna died from her injuries. Kampan Chakma got serious injuries at his right leg.


Bangladesh army torture an indigenous man in Laxmichari

On 11 July 1993, Bangladesh army of 26 EBR from Dhulyatali army camp led by Leut. Shera launched a military operation in against the indigenous people at Chailyatali in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district.

During the operation Bangladesh army tortured an indigenous person on allegation of collaborating with the Shanti Bahini. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Jharboa Chakma (28), son of Mr. Noaram Chakma Chailyatali, Laxmichari.

On 11 July 1993, Bangladesh army of the same Dhulyatali army camp picked an indigenous man to show the way through the jungle to their destination. When that indigenous person could not show the jungle path, Bangladesh army serverely beat him. The victim is:

  1. Mr Guja Chakma (25), son of Mr. Ram Chakma of Nabhanga village, Laxmichari.
