Jyoti Ranjan Chakma, victim of Muslim settler attack at Jaliapara
On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. At Jaliapara, the Muslim settlers stopped every vehicle and looked for indigenous people. Senior government official Jyoti Ranjan Chakma was taken off a bus and severely beaten up.

Bengali settlers attack indigenous people in Rangamati

On 28 July 1993, a Muslim settler and shop-keeper ill-treated an indigenous college student while the latter was buying clothes at Reserve Bazar in Rangamati.

The indigenous student protested against the rude behaviour of the Muslim settler who did not tolerate the audacity of the indigenous student.

Then a communal riot broke out, Muslim settlers and other shop keepers gathered around the quarrel some shop keeper and stared attacking other indigenous people who were near the shop and injured several indigenous people. 2 of the victims are:

  1. Mr. Bakul Chakma, son of Mr. Sushil Mitra Chakma.
  2. Mr. Chitra Sen Chakma, the Chairman of the Union Parishad (Council) of Banduk Bhanga, Rangamati.
