Bijay and Samiran Chakma of Mallya Massacre
On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed at least 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. 2 of them were Bijay Chakma and Samiran Chakma, the sons of Saral Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bangladesh army clears land for new camp in Kamalchari

On May 12, 1995, Bangladesh army led by Maj. Mabbub and a group of Muslim settlers launched a combing operation in the Fatrachara area of No. 263 Kamalchari Mouza under the jurisdiction of Khagrachari district to flush out the Shanti Bahini from the nearby forests.

Having found no Shanti Bahini in the area, Bangladesh army ordered the Muslim settlers to clear the jungle of a hill near Fatrachara Mukh with a view of constructing a new army camp at the top of the hill.

There are military camps everywhere in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Often Bangladesh army builds military camps by grabbing indigenous people's land. Bangladesh army harass indigenous people from these camps. They restrict movement of indigenous people. If indigenous Buddhist people vacate their homes and villages to escape harassment, Bangladesh army settles Muslim settlers in their homes and villages.

In 1947, India was partitioned on the basis of religion. In 1947, 98.5% of the CHT population was non-Muslim. The indigenous people of CHT opted to join either India or Burma. But Muslim League conspired with the Boundary Commission and illegally annexed CHT with East Pakistan in violation of the principle of partition. Successive Bangladesh governments have been sponsoring Muslim settlers from plain land to dilute the indigenous people of CHT. Bangladesh army's role is to protect the Muslim settlers and carry out ethnic cleansing against indigenous people in CHT.
