Suradini Chakma of Mallya Massace
On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed at least 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. One of them was Mrs. Suradini Chakma the wife of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bangladesh government settles hundreds of settlers in Rangamati

By June, 1995, 260 Muslim settler families have been settled by Rangamati Municipality under the standing order of the Bangladesh Government that all the floating people of Rangamati Town be rehabilitated. The Bangladesh Government have used the term "Floating People" as a euphemy for the newly arrived Muslim settlers with a view to mis-lead the public opinion.

The state financed project of rehabilitating 500 Muslim settler families at Jalyapara (near the northern part of Reserve Bazaar) of Rangamati Town is in progress.

In 1947, India was partitioned on the basis of religion. In 1947, 98.5% of the CHT population was non-Muslim. The indigenous people of CHT opted to join either India or Burma. But Muslim League conspired with the Boundary Commission and illegally annexed CHT with East Pakistan in violation of the principle of partition. Successive Bangladesh governments have been sponsoring Muslim settlers from plain land to dilute the indigenous people of CHT. Bangladesh army's role is to protect the Muslim settlers and carry out ethnic cleansing against indigenous people in CHT.
