Bangladesh army the proctector of Muslim settlers
On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh Rifles terrorize the indigenous Buddhist people in Barkal

On 11 August 1995, a group of BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) soldiers of the Sukhnachari BDR camp led by Subedar Mohammad Khaleque and Nayek Subedar Mohammad Mujibar Rahman attacked the Shanti Bahini (SB) base in the area although the Shanti Bahini was adhering to the terms and conditions of the ceasefire. However, the Shanti Bahini had the right to defend themselves if attacked in accordance with the truce. So, the Shanti Bahini had to fight back and forced the enemy to retreat with heavy casualties.

In reprisal, the BDR and the local Muslim settlers raided Sukhnachari village of Barkal, rounded up the indigenous villagers, interrogated and tortured them, stole valuable goods, arrested and took some of them to the BDR Camp for further harassment and torture. Among the victims were:

  1. Mr. Bhuban Joy Chakma (35) and his entire family,
  2. Mrs. Nani Bala Chakma (25), the wife of Mr. Bhuban Joy Chakma,
  3. Pranab Jiban Chakma (8), the son of Mr. Bhuban Joy Chakma,
  4. Miss Tashi Chakma (4), the daughter of Mr. Bhuban Joy Chakma,
  5. Miss Shikha Chakma, the daughter of Mr. Hal Muya Chakma,
  6. Mr. Parancha Chakma (35), the son of Mr. Raj Mohan Chakma,
  7. Mr. Nana Kazi Chakma (27), the son of Mr. Lalit Chandra Chakma,
  8. Mr. Dayal Mohan Chakma (55), the son of Mr. Tanka Raj Chakma,
  9. Mr. Kanungo Chakma, the son of Mr. Chandra Mohan Chakma,
  10. Mr. Sushen Kumar Chakma (75), the son of late Ali Chan Chakma,
  11. Mr. Sneha Kumar Chakma (65), the son of late Ali Chan Chakma,
  12. Mr. Manu Ranjan Chakma (45), the son of Mr. Urong Fana Chakma,
  13. Milan Chakma. (12), the son of Mr. Lharani Ranjan Chakma.
