On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

On 28 August 1995, Bangladesh army of Dhulyatali Army Camp, Lakshmichari led by Maj. Aziz carried out search and destroy operation at Dewan Para of Lakshmichari, Khagrachari. Bangladesh army arrested 2 innocent indigenous Buddhist herdmen while they were grazing their cattle in the field. Bangladesh army interrogated them about the whereabouts of the Shanti Bahini, and poured water through their nostrils during interrogation. 2 indigenouss Buddhist victims were:

1. Mr. Sadhan Moni Chakma (25), the son of Mr. Pettua Chakma
2. Mr. Bijilya Chakma (18), the son of Mr. Anil Chakma

Bangladesh army can arbitrarily detain, interrogate and torture any indigenous person in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bangladesh army requires no warrant, suspicion is enough to harass the indigenous people. Bangladesh army is driving out indigenous Buddhist, Hindu and Christian tribes from Chittagong Hill Tracts and settling Muslim settlers in their villages. Their aim is to Islamize Chittagong Hill Tracts by terror.
