Bangladesh army harass indigenous Buddhists in RowangchariOn 5 October 1995, Bangladesh army of Shilchari and Farua Army Camps under the control of Kaptai Brigade attacked a Shanti Bahini camp in the deep forest of the Tarasa Union of Rowangchari, Bandarban. Shanti Bahini was observing ceasefire. However, Shanti Bahini was tipped off by local indigenous people and they managed to vacate their camp just before the attack took place. Having failed to find anyone in the camp, Bangladesh army terrorists arrested two local indigenous Buddhists on the mere suspicion that they were helping the Shanti Bahini. The victims were-
The victims were detained and coerced into confession that they were the Shanti Bahini personnel. Bangladesh army can arbitrarily detain, interrogate and torture any indigenous person in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bangladesh army requires no warrant, suspicion is enough to harass the indigenous people. Bangladesh army is driving out indigenous Buddhist, Hindu and Christian tribes from Chittagong Hill Tracts and settling Muslim settlers in their villages. Their aim is to Islamize Chittagong Hill Tracts by terror.
