Baribindu Chakma
On 25 December 1986 at 6:00 a.m Bangladeshi army personnel from the Dighinala cantonment rounded up Mr. Baribindu Chakma (38) son of Mr. Jatindra Lal Chakma of Sadhok Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army tied his hands and then severely beat him. Bangladesh army men laid him on the ground and kicked him like a football. They hammered his fingers. He was released after 8 and 1/2 hours of torture. He took refuge in Tripura state of India.

Bengali settlers rob and torture indigenous Buddhist people in Naniachar

On 4 November 1995, a group of Muslim settlers and a number of VDP (Village Defence Police- Muslim settler militia) men from Islampur cluster village in Naniachar attacked 4 indigenous Buddhist families with machetes, spears and knives at Gulsachari Bhuiadam in Baradam Mouza, seriously injured 3 indigenouss Buddhists and robbed all valuable belongings. The Bangladesh authorities did not taken any action against perpetrators. Among the victims were:

  1. Mr. Shanti Bilash Chakma (40), had his thumb slashed and thus seriously injured
  2. Mr. Anil Chandra Dewan (32), the son of Mr. Madan Mohan Dewan
  3. Mr. Chijigula Chakma (35), the son of Mr. Nandi Kumar Chakma.
