On 19 December 1986, Bangladesh army men gang raped Vira Rani Chakma (16) of Nuaram Karbari Para, Dighinala. About 20 Bangladesh army personnel from the Viswa Ram Karbari Para army camp of Dighinala raided the indigenous Chakma village of Nuaram Karbari Para in the morning. All the male inhabitants of the village were taken by force to cut the jungle surrounding the army camp. Bangladesh army encircled the village at 11:00 a.m. and on the pretext of searching entered the houses. All the women and the girls who were in their houses, were stripped by the soldiers and were gang raped. Even the minors were not spared.

Bangladesh army detain 13 indigenous students in Panchari

On 19 December 1995, at night Bangladesh army and PPSPC collaborators (Parbattya Chattagram Jatiyo Shanti and Samannoy Parishad) jointly abducted 13 indigenous students from Kuradiya Chara and Latiban and then took them to Panchari Police Station.

On 20 December 1995 following day while the Bangladesh Police were taking them to the Khagrachari Jail , hundreds of indigenous students and youths demonstrated and blocked the Panchari-Khagrachari Road in order to prevent the Police from taking their leaders to the Khagrachari Jail.

Then, over 200 Bangladesh Police personnel from Khagrachari were rushed to Panchari to break the demonstration. As a resultl a clash between the Police and the indigenous students broke out in which many students and 3 to 4 Police men were injured. Needless to say, the 13 abducted indigenous students have been imprisoned without charge or trial since 20 December, 1995. They are
