Bengali settlers attempt to rape an indigenous Buddhist woman in RamgarhOn 7 May 2015, a Muslim settler attempted to rape an indienous Buddhist woman in Ramgarh, Khagrachari district. The Muslim settler was identified as Mohammad Sobuj (22) son of Uzir Mian from Bolturam Para village in Ramgarh. Mohammad Sobuj is a construction labourer and originally hails from Sylhet district of Bangladesh. The 28 year old indigenous victim was attacked when she went to a well near an under-construction bridge in Kalapani village where Sobuj worked as a labourer. Sobuj followed her to the well and asked her for water. After drinking water, he grabbed her and tried to rape her. However, she fought back. In the midst of their fight another indigenous Buddhist woman of the village Kandori Chakma appeared there. She saw the Muslim settler attempting to rape the victim.
