On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. Indigenous Buddhist girl Mithu Marma (13) was seriously injured in the attack.

Bangladesh army ransacks indigenous Buddhist houses and shops in Rangamati

On 3 April 2016, Bangladesh army from Gachkabachara army camp led by one Major searched and ransacked indigenous Buddhist shops and houses at Jibtali union in Rangamati sub-district.

During the search, Bangladesh army personnel ransacked 3 indigenous Buddhist shops and 2 offices of the local organizations. Bangladesh army ransacked the files and papers here and there. Bangladesh army personnel conducted thorough search of 3 indigenous Buddhist shops belonging to:

  1. Shubha Lal Chakma
  2. Amarjit Chakma
  3. Sukhamoy Chakma

Bangladesh army searched and ransacked indigenous Buddhist properties at around 4:00 am. Bangladesh army inquired indigenous people of PCJSS workers and supporters while leaving the goods squandered and spoiled. Afterward the troop conducted another search in the offices of local business organizations namely Upajatiyo Kat and Jot Malik Kalyan Samiti at around 5:30 am and strewn the files and papers sporadically. Afterward the army also searched the rental office-room of CHT Youth Association near by and tore important documents and left them in mess.
