Bengali settlers abduct an indigenous Buddhist girl in Lama

On 24 May 2016, Muslim settlers abduct a 13 years old indigenous Buddhist girl named Hlachai Marma daughter of Aungcha Pru Marma in Lama, Bandarban district.

Hlachai Marma was kidnapped when she went out of her house for a sleepover at her grandmother’s home. Her father Aungcha Pru Marma filed a case with Lama police station against following Muslim settlers:

  1. Mizan (21)
  2. Monshur Alam (22)
  3. Jashim (19)
  4. Monzur (18)
  5. Mizan (20)
  6. Hashon (25)

Aungcha Pru Marma had complained to the local Union Parishad chairman and sought his intervention to rescue his daughter. Aungcha a resident of Saperghata village under Phanshiakhali Union said the victim’s grandmother’s house is in the same village and that his daughter had gone out as usual at 7 pm to sleep overnight at her grandma’s house. But the indigenous family did not know until next morning that she was not at her grandma’s house. When she did not return in the morning, they got alarmed and began searching for her.

So far none of the accused has been arrested.
