Bangladesh army the proctector of Muslim settlers
On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army tortures 7 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Sajek

On 21 June 2016, Bangladesh army from Tiger Tila camp led by Warrant Officer Anwar tortured 7 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Sajek, Rangamati district.

The indigenous people were returning from Dighinala Health Complex on 4 motorbikes after treating a female patient. Bangladesh army led by Warrant Officer Anwar from Tiger Tila camp stopped them at Nandaram at 11 pm.

The soldiers beat them up without asking any question and without any apparent reason. They also held up Udayan Chakma, member of Ward No. 6 of Sajek Union Council, but did not beat him. The tortured indigenous Buddhist people were identified as-

  1. Priya Chakma (25) of Dipupara village, Machalong
  2. Natunjoy Chakma (22) of Pukurpar village
  3. Paranya Chakma (24) of Dipu-para village
  4. Nipun Chakma (23) of Egojyachari village
  5. Ratan Chakma (30) of Egojyachari village
  6. Alomoy Chakma (28) of Egojyachari village
  7. Putul Chakma (35) owner of a drug store at Ujo bazar
