On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladeshi security forces arrest an indigenous man in Chittagong

On 8 August 2019, RAB-7 (Rapid Action Battalion) with plain cloth and intelligence personnel arrested Mr. Subhash Chakma, president of PCJSS of Kaukhali unit and a businessman from the gate of Chittagong central jail.

Mr. Subhash Chakma was getting out from jail after gaining bail from High Court. Since then, Subhash Chakma remained missing. RAB, police and intelligence agencies denied that the victim is in their custody.

At last on 11 September 2019, he was released in Chittagong.

It is worthy to mention that Subhash Chakma was arrested by Bangladesh army from Champatali camp on 24 October 2018 while he went to the camp after being called by Champatali camp authority and handed over to police falsely charging him for involvement with killing Chairman of Nanyachar Upazila Parishad, Shaktiman Chakma.
