From Sarajevo to Another Road to Hell (1994)

This is a time of dark history
mothers impregnated with seeds of a thousand hatreds
new-born babies' first cry before gun barrels
their fathers dead with knives in their throats.

All that's good -- its goodness is measured in killing
all that's brave -- its bravery is measured by massacre
this a charter quietly signed in the UN
the great house of the human race has entrusted its chair to Boutrous
and
Akashi.

Thus when those called Muslims read genocide, it is they who must
suffer its
meaning
though the word is often interpreted in New York and Geneva,
at other tables, its meaning different, for humanity is no longer a
universal right
humanity is the right of America, England, France and Russia
the rest is Islamic, African and Asian heritage.
