OBITUARY -
Ruby Lee Elliott, co-founder of Elliotts's Seat Cover Center, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at a local hospital. She was 85. Mrs. Elliott was a native and a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area. She was a Baptist, and when she was young had worked at the Chattanooga Bakery. After she married Fred M. Elliott, she helped him cut out patterns for car seat covers and convertible tops. This began Elliott's Seat Cover Center, a long-standing business on Rossvill Boulevard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Elliott; brother Bob and Jim Lowery; and sister Helen Lowery Edgeman. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. James H. North, East Ridge; foster daughter, Connie Nelson, Cleveland, Tenn.; and son, Wilbur Elliott, Florida; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens South. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
