The 1880 census of Walker Co. GA at Chestnut Flat shows the h/h of John B. WATTS, age 38, and his second wife, Mary LOWERY JOHNSON, age 35, born GA. In addition to John's family by his first wife, there was a 2 year old Minnie JOHNSTON, age 2, born AR in the home. Mary's other four children by her first marriage are listed in homes just over Taylor's Ridge in the Trickum area of Whitfield Co., all are designated as BOUND to the families they are living with. (Nannie, born 1867, lived with John and Susan Beasley, and later married A. D. Wall; Joe L. Johnson, born 1869, lived in the home of William and Jane Harris, as did his sister Elsie, born 1875; Emma Johnson, born 1872, lived with William and Octavia Bice.) The father of these Johnson children is reported to be a Hugh Lawson Johnson who died in Arkansas between 1876/1880. Before her marriage, Mary was a Lowery. I need the ancestry of Hugh Johnson and Mary Lowery . (Mary died 1910 and is buried beside John B. Watts at Wood Station Cemetery.)
