In The early 1980's, the SAF procured a number of F-5 E/F from the
U.S. At least two
of the 12 delivered were shot down by the rebels in the southern
Sudan. Although the current operation status of the squadron - probably
based in Wadi' Sayidnah - is not known, reports of spare parts supplies from
Iran were circulated in the early 1990's. No recent accounts of flying Sudanese
"tigers" available. The picture above was taken during the fairy flight to
the Sudan.
