The Rock is a third-generation superstar with immeasurable athleticism--and cockiness to boot! After graduating as an All-American football star from the University of Miami, Rocky Maivia entered the World Wrestling Federation and quickly became the Intercontinental Champion.
After winning his first WWF match-being the sole survivor in his Survivor Series match-he beat HHH for the Intercontinental Title. He lost it to the late Owen Hart a couple months later, and was then taken off WWF television. He came back two weeks after SummerSlam 1997 as a member of the Nation of Domination. He appeared in Survivor Series 1998, losing to sole survivor Ken Shamrock at the match's end, but not after eliminating both Hawk of LOD and Ahmed Johnson. About a month later, he regained the WWF I.C. title when Steve Austin just handed it to him.
On the Raw after WrestleMania XIV, The Rock took over the Nation from then-leader Farooq. Under Rocky's "rule," the Nation became an almost-unbeatable faction, with Owen Hart joining the Rock as co-leader. Owen's joining the Nation brought forth the Nation-DX feud, which centered on The Rock and HHH. The two had an "electrifying" ladder match at SummerSlam 1998, even though HHH won.
Under controversial circumstances, The Rock won the World Wrestling Federation Championship at Survivor Series 1998. The Rock went on to win the title two more times, making the Great One a three-time Federation Champion. Also, he recently won the Tag Team Title with Mankind, becoming only the sixth wrestler to hold the WWF Triple Crown (Tag, I.C., and World Titles).
