MY CLAM PAGE

Unfortunately, I only have Two tridacna clams (I was told, Crocea) at this time. One large and one small. If things continue to go well, I will aquire more in time.

TRIDACNA

The above picture will have to do until I can get one in better focus.

Some Later Pictures (1 above 1 below)

I'm having one heck of a time getting pictures with this cheap Kodack DC3200. I have to block off light from above in order to keep the picture from "whiting" out, but this means the clam won't open up all the way. Suggestions?

I GUESS I'D BETTER SHOW SOME PICS OF THE LARGER CLAM ALSO

These are two pics of the Larger Crocea

I wish this clam would stay where I put it, but it moved a little, changing the position facing slightly towards the back, and anchored itself there. Harder to see or take pics of.

BY THE WAY, IF THESE ARE NOT CROCEA CLAMS, PLEASE ADVISE ME AS CR0CEA IS WHAT THEY WERE SOLD TO ME AS, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ID ANY CLAMS. THANKS

Squamosa

This clam began spawning one evening, about 10 minutes before I noticed the Crocea clam spawning in the same tank but at the opposite end. The "ejaculate" from the squamosa was very forcful and quite stringy and solid, whereas the Crocea "ejaculate" was very "powdery" and not very forceful. The Crocea spawning continued for about 15 minutes, but the Squamosa continued for at least 55 minutes since I first noticed it. The last 30 minutes though it looked like it was just expelling water.
