Cornelius
Following last year's critically acclaimed Fantasma LP, Japanese musician Keigo Oyamada (aka Cornelius) has spent most of his time responding to a flurry of remix requests, whilst also having many of his own tracks reworked by others. Now these special tracks are available in two compilations; Fantasma reMixes (FM) and Cornelius reMixes (work it out!).
Fantasma reMixes is a great cheesy listening romp on keyboard overload, highlights being High Llamas exceptionally cute mix of The Micro Disneycal World Tour and the laid back Star Fruits Surf Rider, remixed by none other than Blur's Damon Albarn.
Cornelius reMixes however takes a completely different angle towards things, from the underground punk crackle of U.N.K.L.E's Ape Shall Never Kill Ape through to the space-age take on of Coldcut's Atomic Moog 2000.
These two compilations may be a little unusual to many ears but they make strangely compelling listening and compliment each other brilliantly.
You really could do a lot, lot worse.
