Twister / Kooler Klub, Oxford / 16.10.00 Twister are here tonight promoting their new album Mums, Dads and Ladyboys which is out now on Damaged Goods. There is a clear, honest approach with this band that sets them apart from so many wannabe punkers. You really don't get the impression watching them that their CD sales keep them up at night, nor that they have any intention of kissing music-biz ass to get into the charts. The real killer is when you realise how well their songs are put together, and how the seemingly fluffy lyrics grab your heart mercilessly. One theory for this could be singer Matt's profession as a teacher in a primary school. It suddenly becomes clear where he gets the impetus for songs such as Holiday and Its a dog's life from.. By going on how they come across on stage, on their singles, and on the credibility lent them by dint of being signed to Damaged, the album must be good. Properly entertaining, for those of an Undertones/Buzzcocks persuasion. Dan Peddle
