13 January '04: Vacancy at Jamiroquai?
Nick Fyffe, Stuart Zender's replacement in Jamiroquai, has left the group. Does this mean Stuart will come back? Stranger things have happened...
22nd April '03: Some New News
I thought I'd drop a note to Zender fans. Stuart is currently working on a project in Costa Rica. The project name is "Leroy". The music is off the chain, sick. It's kind of a cross between Cold Play and Timberland, or Beatles/Earth,Wind&Fire. Very eclectic with amazing harmonic melodies. The B-lines are, ofcourse, the NEXT shit. Stuart hits some lines that come at you from no where. I had the privledge of hearing the early EP last month. There are 4 members of Leroy. I believe there is an E.W.F. element in their work, because Stuart does lead vocal and Back ground vocals in a beautiful falsetto, yet the bulk of the tracks are sung by a L.A. native Jonah Johnson. The music, from what I hear, is a collaboration of ideas that were created in London and L.A.. Pierre Bate a producer/musician who works with Stuart Zender via internet, have created numerous tracks 8 thousand miles away from each other. All three traveled to Costa Rica in February to complete the first 5 tracks...they are returning in May to complete the final album. I hear they are staying in a castle on the west coast of Costa Rica, using the structure to record. I wasn't allowed to have a copy, though I was told that as early as next week the songs may be played on certain radio stations. KCRW Los Angeles will be the first station recieving the final mixes. That station introduced Jamiroquai to Los Angeles, amongst others.
6th June '02: SZ and Mel Form Duo Melanie Blatt is said to be teaming up with Stuartto form a deo. According to the Sun, SZ and Mel are working on an album together and decsribe their music is a combination of "pop and funk fusion." A friend said: "Mel's scared to go it alone and Stuart wants to make music again so a duo seems perfect." Will they be the next Sonny and Cher?
4th February '02: SZ
Produces Mel's New Single Stuart's fiance, Melanie Blatt, is
releasing a new single with the Outsidaz. Mel's vocals were originally
recorded and produced by Stu and then brought into Strongroom studios in
London, to be remixed and added to the original mix of the track. The
studio used a new music software application called Rocket Network to make
the vocals available over a network, which Stuart could then access. “It
was great to be able to work in my own environment while working with
people all over the world,” said SZ. “It’s an amazing technology for any
musician to work with any producer at any time. Rocket Network is the
future of audio production.” The single is released on the 11th of
February.
1st February '02: Stuart
E-mail Rumour Our friends over at Bassmaster apparently
received and email from somebody claiming to be Stuart Zender. The message
was short and thanked everyone for their support, said Azur was no more,
and that SZ was busy producing Mel's album and enjoying being a father. Is
it true? Who knows...

'02: Added "Stu's Tune" Added to the site is "Stu's
Tune", a live track played by Jamiroquai in 1995. It is basically a
jam following Stuart's bassline, and is very funky and cool. JK scats
some vocals, the audience clap in time, and everybody is happy. Ah,
those were the days. It is available on the Music
Page, or by clicking here. Enjoy!

'01: Stuart Pictured with JK, Mel Releases
Single Stuart
was recently spotted at a Louis Vuitton show with none other than JK of
Jamiroquai! Click Here for a picture of the pair, with Stuart's
wife Mel. Other reports suggest Stuart has recently been hanging out
with Toby Smith, and they have put their differences aside. Its a
bit presumptious, but could this spell a SZ / Jamiroquai reunion? In other news,
Stuar's wife Mel has released a new single with the Artful Dodger called
"Twentyfourseven", while Jamiroquai release their new album "A Funk Odyssey". Also added
to the Images Page
are stills from Jamiroquai's March 1993
performance of "Too Young To Die" on TOTP - featuring nice
SZ pictures.
24th May '01: Stuart in
"The Star" Stuart Zender appears on page three of today's
Star, the UK tabloid. No, he's not posing topless; he is part of a story
regarding Mel. Apparently Mel is broke, having blown her £4m future. Mel
mentions that she has to start a solo career to make a living. Otherwise,
she would've retired after the All Saints split. A "close source" thought
it was odd that she could've lost so much money, and admits that even
"Stuart must have made a bit from his Jamiroquai days". A spokesperson
from her label, however, said to take the news with a "pinch of salt" as
she "has a wicked sense of humour". There is a large, nearly full page,
picture of Stu and Mel; it looks quite recent. Stuart is looking fit and
happy, wearing a blue bandana! Is he still bald?! :-)
1st May '01: New Jamiroquai
Album Stuart's old band, Jamiroquai, have announced plans for
a new album to be released this year. Tentatively titled "2001: A Funk
Odyssey", it apparently features half disco songs and half mellow acoustic
songs. So far there is no sign of the tracks recorded with Stuart during
the initial sessions for "Synkronised" - it is more than likely that these
will never see the light of day. There is also no news about Azur; Stu is
keeping a low profile at the moment.
8th Decemeber '00: Stuart in Q Stuart Zender
appears briefly in the January 2001 issue of Q Magazine, as part of an
article detailing the "love lives" of different celebrities. Naturally, All
Saints are listed, and Mel is "linked" with Stuart. There is also a nice
picture of the happy couple!
26th October '00: Where is
Azur? It seems that Virgin have shelved plans to release any
Azur material this year, as they do not appear on their current schedule.
However, next year we may see some SZ and Azur
activity.
12th May '00: Stuart Moonlights with Squeeze
Mel Stuart is due to appear on the new All Saints album,
"Saints and Sinners", which is released this summer. He produces a track
is called "I Feel You" and is said to be a good mix of the cool R&B
funk and pop sensibilites that All Saints are known for.
8th May '99: More news
about AZUR A single is planned for Autumn '99, with an album in
summer 2000. This dates are probably tentative, as Virgin America have so
far given no details on any Azur releases.
11th February '99: Stuart forms new band Stuart has formed a
new band called AZUR. So far ther are no exact details on the band,
but they are signed to Virgin Records America and feature SZ plus one other multi-instrumentalist, named
Donny. Also featured are a Cuban horn section, and it is rumoured veteran
bass player Pino Palladino is featured. Could this lead to a
"bass duet"?!
31st January
'99: Stuart gets Voodoo-ed Stuart will not be appearing on
R&B singer D'Angelo's new album, "Voodoo". The songs he has worked on
may still be used, however, for soundtracks and B sides, according to a
D'Angelo spokesman. Stuart worked with the singer/keyboardist earlier this
year.
30th December '98: Stuart
rejoins Jamiroquai (not really) SZ
was present recently at the Ivor Novello award show with the rest of
Jamiroquai. Click here to see a picture of
him and Mel at the show.
