HORIZONS - PART 1 - THE FUTURE - HOW MAY I SERVE YOU: I am a diligent & conscientious worker, well-rounded and flexible - so we have a wide array of options:
I am interested in new challenges - by way of part-time accounting/ business/ consulting/ contract/ or real estate opportunities; or
a full-time position - where I can apply my maturity, knowledge and varied experience, to the benefit of your firm and/ or clients;
For the past 16 years, I have been flying solo, operating a one-person, part-time, accounting & consulting business; but I am interested in expanding my horizons, and working more closely with a dedicated and close-knit group - either by working with a partner, or else by becoming involved directly in a larger business.
In the past, I have excelled/ achieved good success/ in short-term situations, of typically 6 months to 2 years; but in the
optimum situation - where our goals and operating cultures are mutually compatible - I would enjoy working with you for many years to come.

-:- as well as with down-sizing & struggling businesses; and
-:- in several very different industries; plus
-:- over 10 years' experience in farming & construction, as a youth;
-:- volunteer worker - in politics and non-profit/ church situations;
-:- I am quick to learn, and readily adapt to new and different situations/ circumstances.

* 19 Years in Contract Accounting, including Public Accounting, Income Tax & Small Business Consulting -:- as Student, as Employee, and as Entrepreneur; serving a wide variety of clients, in many different businesses and industries; including -
-:- Most recently: Operating as "Donald B. Sanders, Public Accountant" - self-employed since late 1988; -:- also formerly known as: "Texalta Business Consultants" - my main business has been -:- in the Calgary area;
-:- serving individuals, small businesses & small charities -:- with complete, computerized services in:
-:- Full-cycle Bookkeeping & Accounting, Complete Year-Ends & Financial Statements -:- GST reporting
-:- Income Tax Preparation & Planning (personal & corporate), including successfully challenging the Tax Dept on audits & appeals; and
-:- Incorporation Consulting Services, Annual Returns, Annual Meetings & General Consulting.

* 11 Years in the Land & Real Estate Development/ Management/ & Marketing Industry; holding positions of: Accountant to Controller level
-:- Accountant & Assistant Property Manager, with Income Property management company;
-:- Licensed Realtor (Alberta), in the Analysis & Marketing of Investment Real Estate - doing business primarily in Dallas & Memphis, with Canadian clients;
-:- Senior Accountant & Controller with Edmonton-based Land & Real Estate Development & Management group, with land and investment properties in Edmonton & Dallas;
-:- Alberta Accountant, with Land Development Division of national 'vertically integrated public company'; my major responsibilities included: (1.) Accounting & Reporting; (2.) Contracts & Para-legal; and (3.) Lot Sales & Builder Relations.
-:- Accountant & Part-time Sales, with small Edmonton custom home-builder, and several of their sub-trades.
* 4 years in Wholesale & Retail Businesses -:- holding positions of
-:- Accountant in the rural co-operative, multi-division, retail group in Rocky Mountain House;
-:- Controller & Business Manager, for a growing retail Mercury Marine, boat & snowmobile business, winning 'Outstanding Dealer' award ; and
-:- Controller & Computer Consultant, for a $10-million wholesale & manufacturing business.
* 10+ years' in a Mixed Farming Operation, as a youth (age 7-18):
-:- experience with raising cattle, grain farming & harvesting; operating & repairing farm machinery; blacksmithing; building construction & repairs; fencing; etc.;
-:- helped my father build several houses - we built the forms for the foundation; we mixed the concrete & wheel-barrowed it into place; we did all the wiring & carpentry work; did the roofing; etc; (I believe that we called it 'hard labor'.)
-:- responsibility + strong work ethic + working solo & in harmony with others; from age 7, I often stayed home from school, in order to help the men with the harvesting, etc, and I was paid a 'man's wages' for doing so.
-:- on my 16th birthday - obtained my 'Alberta Automobile Driver's Licence'. (I have never had any 'demerit points' on my license.)
Volunteer experience, includes:
-:- Political: - I have been active as Campaign worker, Constituency board member, and Member of M.P.'s advisory committee;
-:- Board Member & Secretary or Secretary-Treasurer for several 'para-church' organizations.
(p.s. - I make a 'lousy' Secretary, because I get so involved in the 'business discussions' that I am poor at 'taking minutes); and in various
-:- Church organizations: - including usher/ greeter/ coffee room operator/ plus amateur singer-musician & song-writer.
