Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I know next to nothing about this man. He is intriguing to say the least, a genius to say the most, and reality is probably somewhere in between.
This section, hopefully will become a tribue to this man, not many know him and hopefully I can get the word out little by little.
Eventually I'll have some of his shorter writings up, some biographical info, and some pictures. Oh yeah... Bauhaus wrote a song about the man... you can see it here "Antonin Artaud".

So, here's part of what I know... prepare to be amazed... (yeah... right)...
Artaud Chronolgy

1896: He was born in Marseille on September 4.
1920: He moves to Paris.
1923: He begins his correspondence with Jacques Riviere.
1924-1927: He takes part in surrealism. He tries his hand as a stage and film actor.
1927-1936: He breaks with surrealism. He develops his idea for his "Theater of Cruelty". He makes a performance of The Cenci in an attempt to realize said theater.
1936: Spends January to November in Mexico and experiments with peyote. He returns to France in a condition that has been called "shaky".
1937: Travels to Ireland. While on a boat he is straightjacketed after threatening harm to himself, he is sent back to France by the police.
1937-1946: Stays in many hospitals over these years (in Rouen, Paris, and Rodez). After nine years he is released and returns to Paris.
1947: Lectures in the Theatre du Vieux Colombier on January 13.
1948: Dies at the Hospice d'Ivry (Paris) on March 4.
