"Attack (3)".....

Where Were You
by: Alan Jackson

Where were you when the world stopped turning
that September day
out in the yard with your wife and children
or working on some stage in L A
did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
rising against that blue sky
did you shout out in anger and fear for your neighbor
or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
or pray for the ones who don't know
did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
and sob for the ones left below
did you burst out in pride
for the red white and blue
the heroes who died just doing what they do
did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
then look at yourself and what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
the difference in Iraq and Iran
but I know Jesus and I've talked to God
and I remember this from when I was young
faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
and the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning
that September day
teachin' a class full of innocent children
or drivin' down some cold interstate
did you feel guilty cuz you're a survivor
in a crowded room did you feel alone
did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
did you dust off that bible at home

Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
close your eyes and not go to sleep
did you notice the sunset for the first time in ages
or speak to some stranger on the street
did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
go out and buy you a gun
did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
and turn on I Love Lucy reruns
did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
stand in line and give your own blood
did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
the difference in Iraq and Iran
but I know Jesus and I've talked to God
and I remember this from when I was young
faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
and the greatest is love

the difference in Iraq and Iran
but I know Jesus and I've talked to God
and I remember this from when I was young
faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
and the greatest is love
the greatest is love
the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning
that September day

September 11, 2001
AMERICA WILL

A beautiful morning, clear blue sky
Only moments before so many lost their lives
As Americans watched feeling sorrow and pain
Oh no, it cant be happening again
Two at one time how could this be
But minutes later word came there were three
Not an accident, not a fluke, but how or who
Hearts racing and sirens blazing, this isn't happening
Minds wondered where a planes next target might be
As the terror grew, not knowing what to do
We began to cry, who could hate us this way
Who are these people, what are they trying to say
A day of fear, a day of pain, a day of horror, truly insane

As the day progressed, our people met the call
Only one more plane, unfortunately had to fall
Our victims, our heroes, at peace with their fate
Practicing democracy, the American Way
Those brave passengers voted that day
To stop their flights use in a terrorist way
We will never know how many lives they saved
But through the tears, it was perfectly clear
When together we stand, we will rise above fear
They are an example of all that is good
Proof that our passion for freedom is true

So we will forever pay tribute, to so many innocent lives that were lost
Our Mothers and Fathers, Sons and Daughters
Our Brothers and Sisters, Husbands and Wives
Our friends, coworkers and peace loving strangers we never even knew
God knows your country loved you and now you will too
We will fall and scrape a knee, but then we will stand up and walk on
We will take punches and bruise, but in time they will fade
We will even die or lose someone we love, but God will be with us everyday
We will cry and we will weep, but then we will wipe our eyes
We will hurt and we will mourn and with God's help, we will live on
And although it will be difficult sometimes, with everyday we will heal
We will survive in memory of you, so rest in peace, God is with you too

America's showing its strength and pride
Uniting the peaceful world as the terrorists run and hide
America will not forget and the terrorists will learn to regret
For because of their actions that day
Our World has now found a new will and its way
Peace loving countries have pledged their support
Ending world terrorism is the only choice
We will take you out, not because we hate you
We will take you out, not because we want you to suffer
We will take you out, not because you killed innocent people
We will take you out, not for revenge
We will take you out, not to make you feel our pain
We will take you out, not to make us feel better
We are going to take you out so that you may never ever
Unleash your hatred and terror on anyone in this world again
You did not break us and you cannot break us
Because our God is love and the worlds people are good
And we are at peace in executing a plan
That finally will make our world safe again
We will never ever forget, we will pray to our Gods and
We will live in Peace and Freedom will ring, here on Earth, for the rest of our lives
