On Sept. 11, 1999, former Louisiana Gov. Jimmie H. Davis celebrated his 100th Birthday in Baton Rouge. Davis is one of the few persons who is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was born in 1899, has lived through all of the 1900's and lived to see 2000. He is amoung a handful of people to have lived in three different centuries. This photo of Gov. Davis and Johnny Horton was probably made at the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport, La. in the mid-1950's. Gov. Davis said he once invited Horton to fish at his farm near Newellton La. one weekend and "he really mopped up on the bass."
