Tid-Bits of Info

Here are some little tid-bits on BSB!!!

An Interview with Nick.
So tell us about your new boat then...

"I keep the boat berthed on the canal next to my house that leads to the Florida coast. I fill the engine with petrol and just head out to sea. The Florida Keys are the greatest stretch of ocean in the world with lots of small islands you can stop off at. Many a time Ive played football on the beach with my brothers and sisters. A lot of the time I go out on the boat alone. Being on my own, with just the silence of the sea, is such an escape from the constant screaming of fans on a Backstreet Boys tour. Its something I need to do - just to get away from it all. To me, the Florida Keys is paradise on Earth.

Youve just turned 17 - isnt it dangerous to go out on a boat alone?

"My boat is a 400cc and can reach 130km per hour. For the people who dont master the engine it can be a very dangerous toy. But I know what Im doing. The worst moment Ive ever experienced at sea was the death of my dog, Booboo, last summer. I went out for the day on the boat with my family. We decided to leave Booboo at home because we would be back in a couple of hours. But Booboo escaped from the garden and tried to catch up with us when we were setting off to sea. He jumped in the water and got caught up in the propeller. He drowned. It was really sad and I cried a lot.

Do you normally cry a lot?

Not really. The last time I cried was during the Mel Gibson movie Braveheart. I went with the rest of the group to see it when we were in Scotland. Luckily it was dark in the cinema and no-one heard me. I get homesick a lot. That can make me so emotional that I sometimes feel like crying - but never in front of anyone. No way!

Do you ever take girls on board your boat?

Of course I do. We swim in the sea and play around, but I never try to kiss them. I know a lot of girls who are just friends. The way I prefer it. I dont really want to fall in love yet. I prefer to wait a little bit. To be honest, Ive never really fallen in love. Ive never felt this strong sensation. Of course, in the past there have been girls who were important to me. I went out with this girl called Bryn for about a year. She used to be in the same musical as me. She was in love with another guy at the time. I asked her out all the same and she accepted. But Im still very young and I have lots of time for love. The day I find the girl of my dreams I would spoil her rotten.

Are you the faithful one in relationships?

Oh, yes. Faithfulness is very important to me. I couldnt go out with a girl that already has a boyfriend. And I would be incapable of cheating on my girlfriend. I couldnt look at her straight in the eye. If I had a girlfriend, I wouldnt even need to look at other girls.

Whats the most romantic thing youve ever done?

Ive never done anything romantic. The last girl I went out with I took her to Burger King. If I had to do something romantic I would take her to the beach when the sun is going down. The sky would be full of stars, and apart from the sound of the sea, it would be a very quiet and intimate moment.

Do you carry photos of your family when youre away on tour?

I have pictures of my animals. I have pictures of some people who are important to me, like friends and family. And I have pictures of my house. I cant go around with a lot of personal possessions. Theres not much space left in my suitcase when all my clothes have been packed away. The only thing I try not to forget is my passport.

Do you scribble things down in a diary?

"No, I dont spend that much time writing. But I draw a lot. Thats the way I express myself. I draw little cartoons about the group. We appear as superheroes - like the Fantastic Four - doing lots of adventures on tour,or missions, as I like to call them.

Has anything gone seriously wrong on tour?

Fans often give us presents. Its great to have people thinking about you. People we meet are always cool with us. Were very lucky. But once, though, some fans managed to sneak into A.J.s hotel room. They stole his sunglasses, some jewellery, his favourite underwear. A.J. saw them running along the hote corridor with his stuff. He was really shocked and sad. Thank God these type of experiences are very rare.

Is it true that you often film your fans with a camcorder?

Yes. We want to show the enthusiasm of out fans to our parents. The hysteria around us is nothing new to my mum and dad, though. Theyve already been on tour with us. Howies parents havent, though. Theyve never been out of the States so every time they see the footage theyre impressed. Before showing the film to our parents, we cut out the bits where girls throw condoms and underwear at us on stage.

How do you relax after a gig?

When I come off stage I go straight back to the hotel. I love to take a long shower and then go to sleep. I never seem to take too much time to drop off after a show. Generally, Im always very tired and can sleep anywhere.

Who do you trust most in the world?

I trust my mum 100%. She knows me very well and is capable of guessing my thoughts, I love when shes there. In the group, I think its A.J. who I trust the most.

Whats the most important thing in your life?

Backstreet Boys is the most important thing in my life. My life revolves around the group. We are very close - simply because we seem to spend so much time together. And my boat, of course. Its the best thing I ever bought. I cant wait to go out on it when I get home!"

An Interview with Brian.

So Brian do you have a girlfriend?

No, the last time I was with someone was two years ago and that broke up cause of the group. Im on my own right now.

Do you want a girlfriend?

Yeah, but Im always looking for love in all the wrong places. I never seem to meet the right kind of girl at the right time. I want to go out with a girl who will treat me normally. I dont want to go out with someone who likes me just because I make records. I like successful girls who dont live their life purely around me. I find independence really sexy.

Do you advise Nick on girls?

Not on girls, no. Im five years older than him so I guess hes like the little brother I never had. I taught him how to play basketball. Ive also got him hooked on Nintendo, he cant stop playing it now. But we dont really talk about girls.

Whats the hardest thing about being a pop star?

Its being away from home and not having a girlfriend. We dont get time to meet girls, chat with them and then go out on a date. It takes me a while to get to know a girl, so its really hard. Our schedule is so busy that i cant find time to date or romance a girl.

Have you ever had a one-night stand?

No, and do you know why? Im a real old-fashioned guy. I have to know someone real well before Id even kiss them, let alone do anything more. I believe marriage is important, but I just had my 22nd birthday so Im in no rush to settle down.

When youre on the road, what makes you homesick?

The thing I miss most is sleeping in my own bed. When I get home I love sinking into my own sheets. I miss my pillow and duvet. Hotel beds can be really, really uncomfortable. Theyre either too hard or way too soft.

Talk us through a perfect Friday night.

If Im at home, Ill meet my three best friends and well go to the cinema. We always meet a crowd of people we know and theres usually some good-looking girls around. We have loads of popcorn cos I love it - I think Im addicted. Then well head off for a meal. I love steaks, fries and salad. Then well all go back to my house and watch videos and chill out. We get to bed about 2am.

Have you got any interesting scars?

Yeah, I have two scars where I had my appendix taken out, but only people who know me real well get to see them cos theyre at the bottom of my tummy! Ive also got a scar on my head where I head-butted a table when I was 12.

Have you got any tattoos?

No, but I really want one. I want one on my back, right between my shoulder blades. Ive been thinking about it a lot lately. I dont want a flower of something boring, I want to go for a daring one. Id want something original.

Who would you like to look like?

Brad Pitt. Hes really good-looking and all the girls go for him - and Id also be able to get close to Gwyneth Paltrow! Id like to look like Tom Cruise too. Some people have said I look like him. Unfortunately I dont anymore, because Ive just dyed my hair red. I had a sudden urge to go a deep dark-red colour. I like it a lot.

Have you got a pair of lucky pants?

No, I dont think so. I dont have anything like that because you always lose them and then you start worrying that youre going to perform really badly.

When we met the Outhere Brothers they said you had an outrageous time with them. What happened?

Haha. You have to ask Kevin about that. He hung out with them all the time and they kept going out clubbing. Ive heard some rumours but Im not going to reveal anything. Youll have to get the full story from Kevin - if hell admit to it!

Which of the following would you rather snog:

Emma Spice or Louise?

Louise. Why? I have my secret reasons. Haha. No, she really is lovely. Weve hung out with her a lot, especially when we were in England. Shes the sweetest girl in the world. I wouldnt choose Emma cos I think the Spice Girls can be a bit scary. Id be nervous about being in the same room as one of them.

Friends Jennifer Aniston or Courteney Cox?

Id go for Jennifer cos shes gorgeous. Both of them are pretty but Jennifers on another level. Id love to star with both of them in a movie or something. Id love to be in Friends.

Pamela Anderson or Sandra Bullock

Pamela Anderson, I love her. I would definitely like to get close to Pam. I think shes gorgeous, absolutely beautiful. I like Sandra too but I prefer Pam.

Demi Moore or Gwyneth Paltrow?

Demi Moore cos I quite like brunettes. Actually, I like blondes and brunettes but Pamela Anderson is still probably my all-time favourite. What would I do if I met her? Nothing cos Im too shy to speak to girls most of the time.

So who wants to know more about the BSB? Look here...

What's your idea of a good night in?

AJ: Sitting in front of a log fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows and some mellow music playing. It'd be great if the moon was shining in, the lights were low and it was cold outside.

Brian: I'd have one of those huge movie projectors in a big snuggly room with a huge soft couch and bean bags all over the floor. I'd make dinner downstairs with the lady of my choice, then we'd go upstairs and cuddle up and watch a movie....

Nick: I'd be at my parents' home. I'd get in loads of food and play computers all night with my brother or sister

What film would you cuddly up to?

AJ: Ghost. You just can't help but bawl, especially with the music - oww, man!

Brian: It'd have to be something real romantic. Maybe While You Were Sleeping or Sleepless in Seattle. I'm very soft, you know!

Nick: I Love Trouble, with Julia Roberts. I'm not big into romantic films, but I really enjoyed that one

What's your favourite outfit?

AJ: Silk pyjamas. I've only got one pair and they were in my suitcase which just got lost. It's so annoying - half my clothes were in it!

What's the sweetest thing a girl's done for you?

Kevin: Probably the coolest thing was when I was really sick and this girl I was dating rang her mum to get the recipe for chicken noodle soup. and she made it for me from scratch - isn't that sweet?

Brian: A fan did something real cute for me. She bought a big white tie and drew all the music notes and lyrics to I'll Never Break Your Heart all the way up it in a spiral. It's awesome!

Howie: On my 18th, this girl I was seeing asked her parents if she could have the house to herself and she invited all my friends around for a surprise party. That was romantic.

What have you got to offer as a boyfriend?

Kevin: I'm an honest person, I don't play games, I say what's on my mind and treat people with respect.

Brian: Nothing but a little love, caring, understanding and emotion.

Nick: Just me, myself. I'm a very ordinary, down to earth kinda guy and I hope that's all my girl would need.

How often do you need a hug?

AJ: As often as I can get one! For me it's even better than a kiss.

Kevin: I could use a hug every day, but I'm not likely to get it! It's something I really miss. We get a lot of attention, but not a lot of affection physically.

Nick: Every day. I get a lot of hugs from fans and the guys, but I don't get a proper hug every day - I wish I did!

Howie: I love hugs and kisses. I think it's because I grew up in a big family. Even now I grab my mum and give her kisses all over her cheeks and she's like "Oh Howard, pleeeease!" When I'm with a girl, I lover her to give me hugs - it really touches my heart.

Who would you cry in front of?

Kevin: I cry in movie theatres all the time. I get that from my grandfather - we're a real sentimental family. Brian's like that as well. When we got our first gold recordm we bawled like babies!

Nick: I'm not embarrassed about crying, but I'd try not to bawl in front of just anybody. I'd feel most relaxed crying in front of my mum or the guys.

Howie: For me crying is something I'm pretty open about. It's just a way of expressing your feelings. Recently my gran passed away and my whole family was crying together.

Is it possible to be just good friends with a girl?

AJ: Ah-hah...I've got a lot of close girl friends - in fact I've got more girl friends than boy friends. I get along cool with guys, but they're more into that sport/male thing. I'm too, but I'm also into shopping, buying phat clothes and stuff.

Nick: Yeah. I meet a lot of girls when we're travelling and I make friends with some. Then when we go back to that country I call them up for a chat!

Kevin: I think it's hard because we're travelling so much - it's hard to tell if some people are real friends or not.
